OUR STORY
FROM MOROCCO TO THE WORLD:
HOW A LOCAL NEED BECAME A GLOBAL SOLUTION
Recognizing the need for a targeted and practical response to period poverty in disaster situations like the one caused by the 2023 Morocco earthquake, Project Soar initiated a collaboration with a Casablanca-based textile company. Drawing from our experience working in menstrual health, we developed the Talili sustainable menstrual kit, specifically tailored to address the needs of adolescent girls living in underserved communities where resources are limited.
TALILI
/TUH / LEE / LEE/ [NOUN]
Talili (طللي) is an amazigh Kabyle given name most commonly glossed as “freedom” or “liberty,” derived from the Tamazight root tllell/tilelli meaning “freedom, independence.” The name's powerful meaning has also led to its adoption as a symbolic name in contemporary contexts, particularly among families seeking to honor their Amazigh heritage or express values of independence and freedom.
